“Imagine the love child of Velázquez and David Lynch”. This is how Lisa Slade describes the dazzling work of DANI MARTI. Marti deals in an unorthodox combination of hand-woven ‘canvases’, video portraiture, and bespoke reflective objects. With an auteur’s approach to abstraction, his art commands attention through bold manipulation of unexpected materials. Citing the Titans of abstract art like Lucio Fontana, Kazimir Malevich, and Frank Stella, Marti is interested in the juncture where abstraction transitions from clarity to flamboyance, evolving into something richer and more multifaceted.
