EUGENIA RASKOPOULOS is in the running for The University of Queensland’s Artists’ Self-Portrait Prize 2013, remix.post.connect. The show runs from 19 October through to 16 February 2014, and explores the artists’ impulse to often manipulate aspects of self, through a range of media and various approaches that do not always conform to traditional notions of self-portraiture.

PETER DAVERINGTON’s exhibition From the Future with Love at ARC ONE (05.03.13 – 06.04.13) has been reviewed in ARTnews U.S.A., the oldest and most widely circulated art magazine in the world.

“The architectural elements in Daverington new paintings fracture into reflective splinters, which appear to shatter the painting’s surfaces to expose the underlying canvas while also disrupting our view of his idyllic landscapes.

LYDIA WEGNER

LYDIA WEGNER is a finalist in the 2013 The Keith & Elisabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship (for Art). 

The Fellowship is provided to enable graduates from VCA, School of Art from the Faculty of VCA and MCM to travel abroad and enjoy a measure of financial support during the early years of their professional careers. It is offered biennially in odd years (2011, 2013, etc.), and culminates in the biennial Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Fellowship Exhibition, held in the Margaret Lawrence Gallery.

This exhibition will be held 3-12 October 2013.

With his work My Sad Captain, DANI MARTI has been named as a finalist in the 2013 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize. The exhibition will be launched on Friday 25 October 2013 and will be open to the public from 26 October to 10 November.

“The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize has distinguished itself as one of the more critically significant awards for a local artist to win. Previous recipients include some of Australia's best contemporary artists such as Mikala Dwyer, Adam Cullen, Alexander Seton and Archie Moore". - The Art Life.

DANI MARTI is a finalist in the 2013 Blake Prize with his video work Butterflyman (2012). The Blake Society, named after the visionary artist and poet, William Blake, is a non-profit organisation that administers and manages the annual Blake Prize and Exhibition program for contemporary art and poetry, exploring themes of spirituality, religion and human justice.

PAT BRASSINGTON’s exhibition In search of the marvellous opens at Contemporary Art Spaces Tasmania in Hobart on August 30, and will be on display until October 6, 2013. This exhibition invokes a dialogue between new works and images from Brassington's archives, such as the iconic A Heartbeat Away.

DANI MARTI has been selected to feature a video work alongside 23 other artists from around the world, in the exhibition VIDEONALE. 14 on Tour. The exhibition is in Moscow from 18th-24th September 2013, at The Central House of Artists.

This is an outstanding achievement for Dani as his work was selected from over 2000 applications received from 70 countries.

JULIE RRAP’s public commission for the Façade Project at La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre in Bendigo was unveiled on Thursday 22nd August 2013. The work, 14-metre-wide by 4-metre-high, is part of her photographic series OuterSpace (2010). “I think this is a very exciting extension of the work into real space”, says RRAP.

Reconstructure | ARC ONE Gallery, Melbourne, 27 August - 28 September.

With calm precision, photo-sculptural artist Justine Khamara sliced up the photographic faces of   her   nearest  and dearest.  She then reconfigured them – a  psychological and physical manipulation – to create the photo-sculptural works of her  upcoming exhibition, Reconstructure.

Justine Khamara’s practice continues to focus on the material, plastic qualities of photography and to push the boundaries of photo-sculpture.  In Reconstructure, Khamara moves forward within the process of  photographic replication  and  repetition, presenting work with an increased mathematical, rational and abstracted sensibility.  

The photographic imagery of 'Reconstructure' retains a fragmented presence, central to Khamara’s practice, whilst escalating in psychological intensity.  This calm intensity, combined with  Khamara’s particular focus on colour, line, form and structure, imbues Reconstructure with a contained sense of movement – an explosion held in check.

ARC ONE has the pleasure in showcasing three artists in the inaugural art auction for the Art Cabriolet, a charity in association with Mossgreen & George Calombaris, Loaded Brush & Gavel.  Artists JANET LAURENCE, PETER DAVERINGTON and GUAN WEI will each have a work in the auction, contributed by ARC ONE Gallery. These artists are included in the eleven of Australia’s leading contemporary artists’ that are exhibiting works for the auction.

This event is a great opportunity to feature work by some of ARC ONE's artists and the event will also raise funds for children in trauma, through the medium of art and art therapy.  The auction will be held at Mossgreen, 310 Toorak Road, South Yarra, Victoria, 3141 on Thursday 15 August 2013.
