Anthropocene, Installation View
JANET LAURENCE’s new exhibition opened at The Fine Art Society in London on 17 November and it will run until 27 November. Anthropocene focuses on how humans have changed the face of the earth, moving us towards a proposed new geological era from the current Holocene epoch.

PAT BRASSINGTON’s major survey exhibition À Rebours, will be showing at UQ Art Museum from 28 November 2015 - 10 April 2016.
The exhibition, curated by ACCA's Juliana Engberg, brings together a selection of Brassington’s work from her over 30-year career. The images are hauntingly beautiful, deeply psychological, and sometimes disturbing.

ANNE SCOTT WILSON is presenting a new video work with The Letter String Quartet for their performance at the Abbotsford Convent at 8pm on 21 & 22 November. The performance, called VideoSonicQuartet, is a collaborative project with a composer along with three other artists/composers.

ROBERT OWEN's artist talk in regard to his winning piece for the 2015 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize has been recorded and is available to listen to online. Hosted by Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize Committee Member Professor Ian Howard, the talk proved to be very insightful and inspiring.
Owen's winning piece, Symmetria #37 (pictured above with the artist), is now on permanent public display at the Woollahra Council Chambers.

Dani Marti, Midden (work in progress), Newcastle Courthouse, NSW, 2013-2015.
DANI MARTI's public commission for the new Courthouse in Newcastle is taking form.
The work in progress, entitled Midden, is a large scaled concrete formwork wall that extends over 60 square meters and is constructed from dark grey concrete. The sculptural wall is informed by abstraction and simplicity with sensual curves contrasting with the glass wall entrance and rigid angles of the building.

JANET LAURENCE mesmerised audiences at the opening of the Paris International Contemporary Art Fair, 20 October 2015, with her major installation Deep Breathing: Resuscitation for the Reef. The work focuses on significant climate change issues directly affecting the Great Barrier Reef and includes photos, videos and natural marine specimens in laboratory glassware.
The immersive installation representing a resuscitation unit for the Great Barrier Reef will be on display until 14 December 2015.

JANET LAURENCE's work has been included in the winning essay for the new award supporting critical writing from MPavilion, Art Monthly Australia and the National Association for the Visual Arts.
Dr Julia Jones is the inaugural Writing Award Winner, whose winning essay appears in the 2015 October issue of Art Monthly Australia. On the 28th of October, at the MPavillion, Dr Jones will present a reading of the essay, A growing medium: The garden in art and design’.

JANET LAURENCE is one of 14 artists who have been invited to participate in the initiative: Artists 4 Paris Climate 2015. She has created a site-specific installation, Deep Breathing - Resuscitation for the Reef, inspired by the crucial issues of the Paris Climate Change Conference / COP21.
From the 16 October - 25 November 2015 the installation will be presented at the entrance of Grande Galerie de l’Evolution at Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN), Paris, which has loaned specimens for its realization. A video will also be projected at the Tropical Aquarium of Palais de la Porte Dorée. The Australian Museum will exhibit the work in 2016.

JACKY REDGATE is part of the UQ Art Museum's exhibition titled Light Play: Ideas, Optics, Atmosphere. The exhibition features the work of contemporary artists who employ light and related technologies, and examines their practice in relation to artistic precedents.

Congratulations to ROBERT OWEN, who has been awarded the 2015 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize. The judges selected Robert's bold, painted stainless steel work, Symmetria #37, as the winning sculpture. This $15,000 acquisitive main prize will see the work enter the Woollahra Council Collection.

As past winners of the William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize, PAT BRASSINGTON and JACKY REDGATE are featured in the Hall of Fame exhibition that is currently running alongside the exhibition of 2015 finalists.
Monash Gallery of Art are showcasing the winning works from each year of the prize to date in celebration of 10 years of the prize. Redgate's Light throw (mirrors) #4 (2011) and Brassington's Shadow Boxer (2013) are both included in the exhibition which will continue until 25 November 2015.

DANI MARTI will be participating in Exhibit A, a group exhibition at The Lock Up in Newcastle, NSW. The exhibition intends to go beyond what might be considered ‘art and crime’, and question the ideas of crime, criminality and criminal subject through strong community engagement on a different range of approaches: historical, political, personal, and material.
The exhibition will take place from 30 October to 6 December 2015.

DANI MARTI will be part of the exhibition La Vida es esto: Narrativas de progreso, libertad y auto-realización en el capitalismo de hoy (Life is This: Narratives of Progress, freedom and self-realization in today’s capitalism), at the DA2 Contemporary Art Centre in Salamanca, Spain. The exhibition is based on a reading of works from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y Leon (MUSAC) that reflect on today’s capitalist society. Some of the artists included in La Vida es esto are: Gregory Crewdson, Joan Fontcuberta, Ana Mendieta, Tracey Moffat and Santiago Sierra.
The exhibition will be open from 8 October 2015 to 31 January 2016.

DANI MARTI will participate in Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre’s 21st Birthday exhibition, titled 21. The Casula Powerhouse is a multi-disciplinary centre located in Liverpool, NSW. The exhibition, curated by David Capra, will feature 21 emerging and highly respected Australian artists who have exhibited at this institution.

JACKY REDGATE's photographic work Mirrors will be presented at the University of Sydney Art Gallery from 3 October until 27 November 2015. This exhibition will focus on the artist's use of mirrors and rebounding light and the relevance of these elements in her oeuvre.
